Project Fi is reportedly a new wireless service that Google will launch to offer mobile service directly to users. Google enters the wireless service with this project “fi”. The company’s new Fi service offers low-cost wireless plans that send most of their traffic over Wi-Fi networks. With that type of connection, the service makes a connection with the Sprint or T-Mobile network. Whichever happens to be stronger in a given location. Other companies including FreedomPop and Republic Wireless use the same model, with both of those carriers having deals with Sprint for when Wi-Fi isn’t available.
So the actual advantage of having “fi” working is that it automatically connects to the network which is stronger. Also it can jump from a wifi network to a 4G network of Sprint or T-Mobile if that network is stronger. The company says this works only for Nexus 6 for now.
